    Kathmandu, Nepal – January 3, 2025

Nepal’s tourism sector experienced a significant resurgence in 2024, welcoming over 1.1 million international visitors—a 13.1% increase from the previous year. This marks a substantial recovery, achieving approximately 96% of pre-pandemic tourist levels.

    Steady Recovery Post-Pandemic

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) reported a total of 1,147,567 foreign arrivals in 2024, with December alone accounting for 92,034 visitors. This upward trend underscores the nation’s resilience and the effectiveness of its tourism revival strategies.

    Collaborative Efforts Drive Growth

Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the NTB, attributed this success to joint initiatives, stating, “The remarkable growth in international visitor arrivals has been made possible through the synergy of collective efforts and the spirit of partnership fostered from the very beginning.” Collaborations among the government, travel trade organizations, and media have been pivotal in reestablishing Nepal’s global appeal.

    Daily Influx Highlights Renewed Interest

Mani Raj Lamichhane, Director of the NTB, highlighted that 2024 saw an average of 3,144 tourists arriving daily—the highest since the pandemic’s onset. He noted, “This increase in visitor numbers is a positive sign and marks the first major recovery after COVID-19, setting the stage for further growth in 2025.”

    Nepal’s Enduring Allure

Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and adventure tourism, Nepal continues to captivate global travelers. The nation’s commitment to sustainable tourism and infrastructure development has further enhanced its attractiveness to international visitors.
