CBS and Dick Clark Productions have officially revealed the first group of performers for the “American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special” airing on October 6. The star-studded lineup includes Mariah Carey, Green Day, Stray Kids, Jennifer Hudson, Kane Brown, Raye, Gladys Knight, Brad Paisley, and Chaka Khan. This live event will celebrate 50 years of the AMAs, offering a unique blend of performances from a diverse range of artists.
In addition to the performers, special appearances will be made by Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, and former AMAs host Jimmy Kimmel, adding even more star power to the event.
As for the performances, Mariah Carey will deliver a medley from her iconic album, The Emancipation of Mimi, in honor of its 20th anniversary. Jennifer Hudson is set to pay tribute to the legendary Whitney Houston, who holds 22 AMA wins. K-pop sensation Stray Kids will perform a tribute to boy bands, while Raye will take on the James Brown classic, “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”
Kane Brown will blend past and present country hits in his performance, and Chaka Khan will belt out her timeless anthem, “I’m Every Woman.” Meanwhile, Gladys Knight will revisit her hit “Midnight Train to Georgia,” 50 years after she first performed it on the inaugural AMAs in 1974.
Green Day will perform their recent single, “Dilemma,” and Brad Paisley will both honor Charley Pride with a tribute and debut a brand new song.
This anniversary special will replace the traditional AMAs broadcast for this year, which will now return in May 2025. The 50th anniversary special will air live on CBS on October 6 from 8-10 p.m. Eastern and 5-7 p.m. Pacific. For those subscribed to Paramount+ With Showtime, the show will be available live or on-demand, while Paramount+ Essential subscribers can stream it the following day.
