Chinese New Year Cultural Festival Inaugurated in Bhaktapur

The historic city of Bhaktapur came alive today with the inauguration of the Chinese New Year Cultural Festival at Layaku, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The event showcased vibrant cultural performances by Chinese and Nepali artists, highlighting the rich heritage of both nations.
Dignitaries Grace the Occasion
The ceremony was jointly inaugurated by Minister for Energy, Deepak Khadka; Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song; and Bhaktapur Municipality Mayor, Sunil Prajapati. Their presence underscored the strengthening ties between Nepal and China.
A Celebration of Cultural Harmony
Organized collaboratively by the Chinese Embassy, Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Bhaktapur Municipality, and the Nepal Tourism Board, the festival aims to showcase the cultural harmony between Nepal and China. Traditional dances and songs representing the cultural essence of both nations were performed, captivating the audience.
China Declares 2025 as ‘Visit Nepal Year’
In a significant move to bolster tourism, China has declared 2025 as the ‘Visit Nepal Year’ in China. This initiative is expected to encourage more Chinese tourists to explore Nepal’s diverse attractions, further strengthening bilateral relations.
Enhanced Tourism Prospects
With China reopening its borders for travel and implementing policies to promote outbound tourism, Nepal anticipates a surge in Chinese visitors. The Nepal Tourism Board is gearing up with collaborative marketing and promotional initiatives to attract up to 1 million Chinese tourists by 2025.
