Nick Hepworth, a student at Brigham Young University-Idaho and budding entrepreneur, has created a new company called Subitt, which aims to help small businesses offer subscription services without having to build the infrastructure themselves. Hepworth, along with his partners Aoi Kuriki and Jae Kim, will compete at the Boise Entrepreneur Week Pitch Competition on October 3, where they stand a chance to win up to $50,000.
The idea for Subitt came when Hepworth noticed that many businesses struggled to create and manage subscription services. What started as a plan for offering subscription-based nutritional supplements evolved into a broader concept that could serve a variety of industries. With Subitt, local businesses can easily offer subscriptions through an online marketplace, making it accessible to customers seeking deals from various service providers, from car detailing to pet grooming.
Subitt has already onboarded 45 businesses and has 150 more ready to join the platform. The team recently won first place at the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge at Boise State University, earning them a “golden ticket” to the Boise Entrepreneur Week competition.
Hepworth, originally from Alabama, plans to graduate in 2025 and is committed to building Subitt into a tool that makes life easier for small business owners. He says the team is focused on growing their business and expanding into new markets, with sellers signing up in Rexburg, Salt Lake City, Dallas, and Arizona.
“We want to build something that can last and be impactful,” Hepworth said. “Small businesses really don’t have a lot of resources, and we want to change that.”
As they prepare for the pitch competition, the Subitt team is excited about the opportunity but remains dedicated to their main goal of scaling the business.
